Redesigning to Remember: How We Reinvented the Digital Memory of Catalan Roller Skating

From legacy to redesign: a web with memory and purpose

Effective web redesign begins with a clear story.

In the digital age, where every click is an opportunity, digital communication has become a strategic pillar to connect with increasingly demanding audiences. But what if your website could do more than report? What if I could communicate with a soul, connect emotionally and reflect the true voice of your brand?

The Federació Catalana de Patinatge (FCP) entrusted us with transforming its online presence into a fast, accessible and automanage platform, capable of ordering information, improving user experience (UX) and preserving the digital memory of the Catalan skatage.

The result: a web space that organizes, connects and preserves the sports legacy, prepared to grow and place the federation and its community.

A command with purpose: put order without losing emotion

The Federació Catalana de Patinatge (FCP) needed a web to reflect all its activity: institutional, sports and human.

A digital space where clubs, sportsmen, competitions, news and projects coexist with coherence and without losing the warmth of their community.

From complexity to clear concept

The challenge was huge: to order without dehumanizing and modernizing without losing his soul. To achieve this, we analyze the previous structure and detect the need for a more intuitive information architecture, capable of guiding the user with logic and empathy. Each design decision came from an essential question:

how do we feel about who’s browsing FCP’s web?

Our response was a precise combination of strategy, digital architecture and emotional design.

We create a solid structure, a consistent visual identity and functionalities designed to facilitate internal management. Each click should bring clarity, connection and confidence.

The result: a space that reflects the energy of Catalan skates but also its capacity to organize and modernise them. A web that commands without turning off emotion and that returns to the Federation the digital autonomy that I needed to continue growing.

Web design that transmits speed, community and confidence

The design had to speak the same language as skatting: movement, technique, energy and elegance.

Thus, the new visual identity of the Federació Catalana de Patinatge (FCP) uses an active pallet with accents that evoke dynamism, a firm and contemporary typography and a graphic system that breathes velocity and accuracy.

Web design at the service of user experience

Each design decision was designed to shift the sensation from skate to digital navigation. Lines, contrasts and visual rhythm accompany reading and generate a perception of continuity, as if the user advanced “on wheels” into the web.

That coherence between form and function strengthens user experience (UX), generating a clear, intuitive and emotionally consistent interface with the essence of sport.

But it’s not just about aesthetics. We wanted an accessible, reliable and human interface, capable of adapting to the rhythm of those who use it: federates, journalists, clubs or amateurs.

The result is a web that flows, inspires and connects, while maintaining a constant balance between technical and emotional.

Architecture at user service: clubs, sportsmen and hobby

The web redesign of the Federació Catalana de Patinatge (FCP) began listening.

Before drawing a single line, we analysed how users were browsing, what they were looking for and what they had a hard time finding.

That observation phase was key to understanding the complexity of the federation’s digital ecosystem and transforming it into a smooth experience.

Listen, analyze and reorganize

The new information architecture was designed to simplify navigation and improve user experience (UX).

Instead of showing a high volume of scattered data, we reorganize the contents into clear and functional categories that meet the actual needs of each profile:

  • Federation: institutional information, history, committees and regulations.
  • Clubs: updated directory and access to administrative resources.
  • Results and competitions: quick consultation, integrated filters and calendars.
  • Regulation: accessible, up-to-date and downloadable documents.
  • News: Active communication, updates and achievements of Catalan skates.

That structure doesn’t just command but guides the user with logic and empathy, enabling them to get to what they seek in less and more clear steps.

From information to experience

The internal search engine was optimized to offer relevant results in seconds, shortcuts were simplified and the visual hierarchy was redrawn to highlight the essentials.

Each navigation cape is designed to make the web work as a living, adaptable and easy to manage tool.

Today, the web doesn’t just look better: it works better and reflects the attention to detail that defines our people-focused design approach.

Accessible technologies: quick, up-to-date and long-term thought-out

One of the pillars of the project was to secure the client’s digital autonomy.

We have developed a fully responsive and scalable and fully suitable platform from desktop to mobile or tablet to any device.

Technology that evolves with the organization

Beyond aesthetics or architecture, the goal was to build a solid, secure and sustainable technological base.

The system allows quick updates, dynamic content loads and smooth management without technical dependence.

To achieve this, solutions have been integrated that guarantee performance and durability:

  • A flexible content manager (CMS) to edit without technical knowledge.
  • Speed optimization and low load times.
  • Responsive design that ensures a perfect navigation on any device.
  • Scalable structure ready to incorporate new sections or services.
  • Simplified maintenance, designed for internal non-technical equipment.

The web is designed to evolve, grow and continue to be useful for years, accompanying the Federation’s development without generating technological dependence.

Digital HemerBiblioteca: A look at the past with a vocation for the future

The presence of the Catalan skatting moves quickly, so his past deserved a place to stop.

To achieve this, we integrate a digital library: an historic archives that brings together decades of news, results and sports achievements.

Available at demeroteca.fcpatinatge.cat, this repository converts the web into something more than information: it transformed it into a living memory platform, where each document tells a part of the history of skatting in Catalunya.

The library isn’t an added one. It’s the emotional heart of the project.

Real impact: a web that’s already a living tool

Since its launch, the new web has been established as the digital axis of the Catalan Federation of Pathatge (FCP).

His clear architecture, his intuitive design and his stable technological base have transformed how his Federation manages, communicates and connects with his community.

From digital presence to management tool

The new platform has moved from a simple window to an environment of work and active participation.

His improvements are felt not only in his design but also in his daily efficiency and institutional visibility.

Highlights:

  • Harder internal management: Federation teams can update content and publish results in minutes.
  • Increased organic traffic: The digital library attracts constant searches and strengthens site positioning.
  • Institutional and media recognition: The web has become a reference within the Catalan sports area.
  • Improved user experience: more powerful and accessible navigation for clubs, sportsmen and amateurs.

Today, the site isn’t just an introduction card but a living tool: a meeting place, work and identity for the entire community of Catalan skatting.

An example of how a well-planned web redesign can drive an organization’s digital transformation without losing its essence.

FAQ’s

About the blog and its content

Topics, editorial standards and publishing frequency.

The blog is organised into four areas: web design and development, search visibility (SEO, local SEO and GEO), artificial intelligence applied to business, and digital marketing and content. The current priority is AI for business, because that is where search demand is growing fastest: searches related to AI automation have multiplied twentyfold in Spain over the past year, while the sector’s classic vocabulary is falling.

We publish on a regular schedule, prioritising depth over volume. We would rather publish one well-researched article a month, with our own perspective and real examples, than four superficial ones. Content on fast-moving technical topics (AI, Google algorithm changes) is reviewed and updated periodically rather than left to age.

Articles are written and signed by the Creactivitat team. AI tools are used as support for specific tasks — research, data analysis, proofreading — but the judgement, the experience from real projects and the conclusions come from the team. This distinction matters: Google rewards demonstrable experience (E-E-A-T), and readers quickly spot mass-generated content with no real thinking behind it.

Every article shows its publication date and, where it has been revised, the date it was last updated. In a sector where the rules change every few months — especially anything involving AI search engines — an undated article is a warning sign. If you spot something out of date, let us know and we will review it.

Yes. Many articles come from real questions raised by clients or readers. You can send us your suggestion through the contact page. If the question is specific and comes up often, it will likely become an article or a Help Centre entry.

How to use the blog

Navigation, subscribing and reusing content.

The blog is organised by topic categories, not just by date, so you can go straight to the area you need: web design, search visibility, artificial intelligence or digital marketing. If you are looking for a quick, practical answer, the Creactivitat Help Centre is usually faster, because it is structured as questions and answers.

The Help Centre answers specific questions briefly and directly (what SEO is, how a web project works, what GEO is). The blog develops topics in depth: analysis, real cases, industry shifts and informed opinion. If you want a quick answer, go to the Help Centre; if you want to understand a topic thoroughly, go to the blog.
